This Vintage Tin Ice Cream Scoop-Clad's Disher Dipper was patented in 1876 by G. William Clewell of Reading, Pa. and was manufactured by Valentine Clad, tinsmith, of Phila. , Pa. It was America's first mechanical Ice Cream Scoop and was invented to control the size of the scoop while creating a pleasing shape to the dip of ice cream served on plates or saucers in ice cream parlors.
