This book, The History of Company C, 57th Engineers, during the World War 1918-1919 is by Author Robert M. Davis, Captain, Engineers, U.S.A. This book is far more than a statistical history: It is a story and as such contains many things which will be fully understood only by those who trod the soil of France. They wrote: It is hoped that our work as members of The A. E. F. as recorded herein, will appear good to those who come after us. It is the story of the Company's organization, Crossing the Atlantic, landing at Le Harve, their time, trials & events in France, their time in Germany, Armistice Day, Homeward Bound and back to civilian life. This is an amazing true and accurate story from the letters, data, photos and suggestions of the men who actually served in Company C. This is a First Edition, original printing of the 1921 publication (not a reprint). The front end page is signed by the Author and dated Dec. 25, 1921. It also has the name of the books owner written near the bottom of the page......John Prebyl's First World War service book of 1917-1918-1919. This cloth bound hardcover book is in very good condition with all pages intact, spine tight and secure and just some modest fading of the color of the cloth on the spine and back. It has 21 chapters, 175 pages, 79 illustrations/photos and a 37 page roster & return to civilian life section in the back .
